Welcome to the Digital Machine Shop’s free texture downloads page.
This is only the intro page that you can bookmark that provides a little bit of information about this free content.
If you want to view the current available textures then be sure to go up the “Digital Art” tab in the navigation bar. From there you will see “free downloads”, or you can click on the thumbs to the left that will guide you to a desired page. The links are organized from newest to oldest (top to bottom).
Proudly, The Digital Machine Shop operates out of Austin, TX, but hopes to reach creatives around the globe.
Throughout my digital experience I have utilized tons of free online resources and content, some good and some bad. This is a way for me to give back to the digital community that has provided me with an enormous amount of free high quality content and resources. This is my contribution back to that stream of digital consciousness. Its also a way to showcase my architectural photography work. I’m sure there are designers, architects, or other factions out there that could utilize my photographic services. If so, please feel free to contact me.
Designers, web developers, and students have produced excellent tutorials, information, and media, to help catapult knowledge to levels never seen before. I find it fascinating that people would freely contribute valuable information to inquisitive online viewers. I wanted to be able to contribute to this free market of ideas by providing something that would help fuel the creative spirit and offer something truly unique in the process.
I know you can Google search free textures and there is a lot of good content out there. However, my images are unique in that you won’t find them anywhere else on the web, AND ALL of these images were taken exclusively by Colt of the Digital Machine Shop.
I haven’t ripped any of these images from any other site NOR will I ever. I think that would taint the uniqueness of the images I post on this site. Plus I don’t want people doing that to my images, which transitions nicely into the What?…
There is no catch, no fee, or requirements. Just browse the textures pages and take what you need.
The ONLY thing I request is that my images not be ripped and put on another textures download page. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT, and helps to maintain the integrity of the images.
The images you find on this site are EXCLUSIVE to the Digital Machine Shop and you can only find them here.
You MAY however link my site to promote free texture downloads, but ripping images then passing along Digital Machine Shop photos only contributes to unoriginality which contradicts the creative spirit.
As far as using my texture images, feel free to use them for whatever you like… tutorials, commercial, public, private, whatever...
Also, be sure to check out my links page to find ideas for other creative resources.
Here is a link for you to get your work printed (at truly custom sizes) on high quality canvas or aluminum. I can vouch for the quality that this canvas company provides because I also work there, and I’m the one producing the tangible product with CS5, high end Epson and Canon printers and aluminum presses that truly make your work stand out. Remember that “Real Artists Ship”, so if you’re work is only in a digital format you’re missing out on many other realms to have your work viewed in. We’re also in the process of having work printed on glass so be on the lookout for that.
Also, on my links page there are links to free tutorials for Photoshop, CSS, HTML, Illustrator, ect.
Got a project you need textures for but can’t find exactly what you’re looking for?
Have ideas of textures you want to see?
Need bigger sizes than 3800 X 2900 px?
Drop me a line and I will do my best to accommodate your requests. I want to be able to give the user what they want and need. I also want to be able to have unique content that pushes the boundaries of what other texture sites don’t and won’t provide.
Check back regularly as I will continue to post updated content monthly or maybe bi-weekly.
I will also start a blog site (in the very near future) that will allow you to upload your designed images (using my textures) if you feel inspired to do so.
Its NOT required but it would be interesting to see what creations people come up with textures from the Digital Machine Shop.
Having trouble downloading the high-resolution images?
Here's how.
By hovering over the thumbs you can quickly browse what textures you want or don’t want. Depending on your internet speed it may take a few seconds for each page to fully download, but please be patient.
The hover function lets you view a lot of content at accelerated speeds then when you find one you want, just click on the thumb (circular image) and a new window will open with the high res copy available in that window. From there you can drag and drop a high-resolution image to your desktop or specified folder. Then close that window and you will return to the original DMS page containing the texture samples.
It’s really not that hard to figure out, but I have to include this explanation to avoid answering the same email from trillions of people!
Have fun and start creating.
